- Be socratic - beginner has many poss, experts only a few' - HOW you ask questions; the 5 whys
- Expect nothing in return (low exp), you'll be delighted with what you get back. Give first, Random days - meet with anyone, ZERO FILTER
- Be authentic - practice what you preach
- Be direct - tell the truth- Magic phrase: 'I don't know'
- Listen too - two ears, one mouth
- Be responsive - be present (Deepwork mode on computer for mentoring and deepwork? ROAM plus Zoom only for mentoring?)
- Adopt at least 1 company a year. Experience counts. Listen to entrepreneur on what is a help
- Clearly separate opinion from fact. Help, don't prove you are 'smartest person in the room'
- Hold info in confidence
- Clearly commit to mentor or not.
- Know what you don't know
- Guide, don't try control
- Accept other mentors and engage with them
- Provide specific ACTIONABLE advice
- Be challenging / robust but never destructive
- Have empathy
