@ProudSocialist Now this is the type of discussion we need. We need to agree on a different framework/system for change. I say the left starts by supporting and educating about MMT, so ppl can understand how the monetary system works and how capitalism exploits it. We start there.

We were told all last year how insidiously dangerous asymptomatic carriers were now suddenly when Dems need a strong economy to run on in 2022 because they've accomplished nothing it's no longer an issue. Die for the DOW baby. twitter.com/thehill/status…

@Hisalik @RoKhanna No. You might be surprised to know that the money we earn to pay taxes originally comes from gov spending that circulates into the economy. When we pay taxes, that money is cancelled out in gov accounting. Taxes are collected for many reasons, but mainly to control inflation.

@RoKhanna Fixed it for you. Taxes don't pay for anything at the federal level. James Galbraith: "Governments create money by spending and extinguish it via taxation." japantimes.co.jp/opinion/2019/0… pic.twitter.com/P04IEnVbWM

@hemantmehta How I can hate “God” if such an entity doesn’t exist? Some of us atheists just want to insure that delusional god belief and religious practices and dogma don’t take over more than they already have.

@CAWhitney2016 @thehill the delta variant and omicron variant are as infectious as chicken pox so it’s unavoidable if you get it. If your unvaccinated 1 and 650 die, 1 in 10 are hospitalized. If your vaccinated 1 in 10,000 are hospitalized and 1 in 100,000 die usually immunocompromised

@KeeangaYamahtta I and my daughter are in mourning today. We both keep chatting about what bell hook meant to us. I’m so happy that I had bell’s books to introduce my daughter to Black feminist thought. bell taught us both so much. pic.twitter.com/t7qTVHu68e

Can someone explain to me how a $768,000,000,000 defense bill is no problem, but investing in paid family leave, child care, universal-pre k or averting climate apocalypse is supposedly “unaffordable”?

@bellsnwhistles @ChurchAndStateN @RBReich They may pay a higher income rate, but like the U.S., England has a sovereign currency which means its gov doesn’t use taxes to pay for spending. Both governments can pay for universal health care, like they pay for the military.Only states use tax revenue to pay for spending.

I’d love to see @SenSchumer put each, individual piece of the BBB bill on the floor for a vote. Let senators explain why they oppose universal pre-K; paid family leave; child tax credit; home health care for the elderly and the other popular elements of the bill.

@Fiorella_im @KimIversenShow 800k Covid related deaths in the U.S. alone. I’m seriously glad you haven’t been infected, but I’m also glad vaccines are keeping infected ppl from dying. My wife, a hospital admin, says it’s mostly the unvaccinated patients who die. The vaccinated usually get to go home.

@OP_Omom @HuffPostPol Wow, he can't be fired, he can give lame excuses for his decisions, and there's no consequences for his actions. So tell me why people keep voting for these charlatans?

Today would be a perfect day for @POTUS to cancel at least $50,000 of student loan debt per borrower – before crushing payments restart in 44 days. All it takes is a signature.
