DNA helicases are used in homologous recombination. We've used a gap repair assay originally designed by @mei_newt to determine how the BLM, FANCM, and HELQ helicases promote HR. Now published in Genes in a special issue co-edited by @JanLaRocquePhd. mdpi.com/journal/genes/…

Did you know chromosomal loops can repel one another? Did you know that Hi-C maps have a hidden signature that tells you the sizes of chromosomal loops? Meiosis should be Eco1-friendly! The latest work from @Marston_lab in @eLife reveals that the acetyltransferase Eco1 stabilizes both cohesive and loop-extruding cohesin and this is required for chromosome recombination and segregation in meiosis. elifesciences.org/articles/74447 pic.twitter.com/Ep3Rtr9yRm

I’m super proud to announce some new findings on AAA+ sliding clamp loaders from the Kelch Lab that have just hit biorxiv! We discovered a 2nd DNA binding site on the eukaryotic clamp loader RFC, with implications for how RFC functions in DNA repair. /1 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
