@swyx @DBredvick @calendso @vercel Anecdotal evidence: a strong four people hosted their own, production Spectrum instance after we open sourced it. To be fair, it also wasn't optimized for self hosting + didn't get PMF but still – good marketing for sure, practical application not so much?

There's been a noticeable uptick in "Open Core" companies this year. Open core is where the base software is open source, free to use and the company monetizes with advanced features, support or infrastructure.
