a theme v present in my mind atm: the majority of us live incredibly self-centred lives. most of what we do is in service to ourselves, either as part of the project of bettering the self (exercise, therapy, personal development etc) or protecting the self (wealth, home, status)

I occasionally get to hang around people with real wealth, and those on their way to real wealth. I've notice there is a rising scale of how wealth is experienced. As your income gains more zeros, you ascend through this scale. pic.twitter.com/Lz4QJBo18K

Oops. Turns out most of what I call "emotional processing" is actually just depressive rumination and I'd lose nothing whatsoever if I just stopped. "Taking time for processing", then, is mostly just indulging in a self-reinforcing self-harm spiral. Facepalm of the decade.
