On funerals, loss, grief, friendship, and support: It's not about knowing what to say. It's about being there when nobody knows what to say. The only thing people need to hear is, "You are not alone." And that doesn't require words. It just requires your presence.

Friendship happens on the way to something else. If you “try to meet new people” it feels weird and forced. The more you aim for friendship, the more it eludes you. But if you aim to learn or achieve something with others, friendship happens naturally during the shared pursuit.

As a general rule, the optimal strategy is to treat people as friends and attempt to win together rather than to treat people as enemies and attempt to win on your own.

In business, you'll learn more by making friends with peers who are two steps ahead of you than you will from mentors. In life, you'll learn more by making friends with someone who is two decades older than you than you will from peers.

A hidden danger in modern relationships: You can only date/marry a complete human with flaws. But you can follow people on social media in the top 1% of looks/smarts/wealth/etc without seeing their flaws and compare your relationship to them. Don’t judge the whole by one part.

The approach that has worked best for me: Friendly, but persistent.

Be easy to work with. Nobody wants to add friction to their life. Make sure each relationship you build is a win for the other side. Win-win is the only kind of relationship that is sustainable.

When you turn your back on the voices of those who are in pain and who are angry, you breed hate. Love is the way out, not hate.

You're right. I'm wrong. Now, let's be friends.

Is your relationship strong enough to endure the hell you will most definitely go through? Modern day relationships are ALWAYS destined to be difficult. You must fuel a relationship with : - Communication - Loyalty - Honesty - Time - Empathy Else, focus on YOU, first.

How to spot someone’s insecurities :- Notice the sentences that are followed by a filler : - Umm - Uhh - Anyway... - Yeah... and then... People have an inbuilt urge to be validated or reassured when they’re voicing their vulnerabilities. Keep your ears open.

The stronger the relationship, the less it is required to flaunt it on social media.

Question for life partners who are unmarried -- How are you able to ensure you can visit your partner (or vice-versa) in a medical emergency? Has anyone had problems with this? If so, how did you resolve, if you were able to resolve?

Elevating others is a super power. If someone feels that you’ll elevate them in front of others, especially when they’re not present, they’ll be more likely to want to work/affiliate with you—and elevate you in front of others too.

People rise & fall to the level of expectations A challenge w/ knowing people well is that you know their flaws—& they know that you know So they’re less likely to overcome their flaws since you don't expect them to If you do expect it, kindly & w/ fresh eyes, maybe they will.

“When there is doubt, there is no doubt.” Usually that’s true. When something is clearly not working, it’s unlikely to get better. But in the rare instances when you’re able to turn around a professional or personal relationship—it’s a great feeling.

It is difficult for someone to understand something when the approval of their spouse, social circle, and/or employer depends on them not understanding it. (Paraphrasing Upton Sinclair).

how do you balance building a career + building a relationship? from personal experience, it seems like one or the other will suffer. I know, I know... with the right person yada yada but really though... time is a limited asset.

Blessings to all the mothers who have shaped us. "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come...Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." - Proverbs 31:25, 31:29

The virus doesn’t change who your friends are, it reveals who your friends are.

Even better than being loved is being in love.

Be like family to your friends, a friend to strangers, and a stranger to your enemies.

The secret to a happy relationship is two happy people.

Either have children or become a saint, because eventually, you have to find something you love more than you love yourself.
