Ultimately, the only way to truly be in control of your life is to be in control of your thoughts.

Someone once suggested that I occasionally ask myself, “What am I really trying to achieve here?” Whenever I remember to do it, I find the question generates useful answers. What is one question you find useful to ask yourself?

Question: If you use apps for specific habits like... Meditation: Calm, Headspace, Waking Up, etc Fitness: Fitbit, StrongLifts, etc Diet: MyFitnessPal, etc What is the main benefit you receive? What is the one feature that, if they removed it, you would feel disappointed?

What is one “mindset shift” you find helpful? For example, switching from “I have to” to “I get to.” Instead of thinking “I have to exercise today,” try thinking, “I get to exercise today.” This little shift frames tasks as opportunities instead of obligations. What else?

Reading can teach you the best of what others already know. Reflection can teach you the best of what only you can know.

Sixty minutes are easier than thirty, as it takes time for the mind to settle down. Sixty consecutive days are needed, just as it takes time for the body to go from unfit to fit.

Meditation is not going through thoughts but rather letting thoughts go through you. The thought “I am meditating” is also a thought.

No focus, no mantra, no dharma, no chakras, no Buddhas, no gurus, no gratitude, no scripture, no temple, no music, no gadgets, no apps are required. Some may be helpful, but eventually all will have to be left behind. Start simply, because that's where this all ends.

There are many meditation methods, but "no effort" is the universal method. Every creature at all times can choose to do nothing.
